Our goal is to educate parents, coaches, and athletes on the importance of protecting your mouth in sports, and inspire them to take that extra step for better protection.
To begin educating athletes on the importance of custom mouthguards, we’re donating 100 custom mouthguards to athletes across New York City.
Our hope is that the importance of wearing custom mothguards will spread throughout the world. When other coaches and parents notice the use of mouthguards, they’ll be inspired to provide the same safety to their own athletes. This is how the mouthguard movement begins.
The most common type of facial injury in sports are dental/mouth injuries. Different types of sports equipment—helmets, pads, etc.— are constantly being adjusted to ensure that the players are as safe as possible. So, why is it that mouthguards are often overlooked as one of the important safety equipment used in athletics?
Although mouthguards are required in sports such as football and hockey, there are other sports—like baseball, basketball, wrestling, soccer—in which this specific means of safety is simply not required equipment. Usually, if something isn’t mandatory, people simply do not want to spend the money.
Our organization believes that there are far too many young athletes who should be wearing a custom fitted mouthguard but either choose not to or aren’t provided with one. Whether they’re practicing or competing in a game, athletes are continually at risk for high impact collisions or falls. That is why custom fitted mouthguards should be a mandatory safety measure for all different kinds of sports

If athletes know how to protect themselves, there is less chance of blunt force trauma to the mouth. In addition to that, we want to educate athletes on how to take care of their mouthguards so that getting a mouthguard—and taking care of it—doesn’t have to feel like a difficult task.
With these first couple of steps, we can hopefully begin to encourage more and more athletes to protect their mouths during both practices and games.
